Step I: Commission

Within 24 hours of the submission of your document and project information sheet, we will acknowledge receipt and provide you with an estimate. Once you have accepted the estimate, we will send you an invoice for a deposit of 50% of the total cost of the project. Upon receipt of the deposit, we will begin the process of editing and proofreading the document.

All documents will be handled confidentially.


Step II: Initial Edit


In the initial edit, we will review your document for the following:

  • Consistency and accuracy of dates, names, terminology, facts, and locations
  • Proper sequencing
  • Correct use of acronyms and abbreviations
  • Logical sentence and paragraph flow
  • Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Hyphenation
  • Punctuation
  • Word usage
  • Capitalization
  • Correct use of numbers
  • Sentence structure
  • Correct use of italics

* For editing, we use the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition.

During the initial edit, we will record all changes made through MS Word's Track Changes feature. In addition, we will include questions and comments throughout the document for your review and consideration. In the initial editing phase, your document is reviewed a minimum of two times. 

We will send your edited document back to you for review and to address our comments and questions. Your style sheet will include a list of the sources we used, and general editing notes and observations.



Step III: Second Edit

You will return the document to us with our changes accepted or rejected within the document, along with your responses to our queries.   

We will incorporate your revisions and responses into the document and conduct a third review.


Step IV: Final Review

During the final review we will inspect your document for the following:

  • Formatting discrepancies
  • Inconsistencies in style, headings, page numberings, etc.
  • Punctuation
  • Minor grammatical errors
  • Duplicate or extra words
  • Typographical errors
  • Extra Spaces

Turnaround Times

The typical turnaround time for the initial edit on a project that is 300 pages (75,000 words) or less is approximately four weeks after receipt of the deposit.

For the second edit and final review, the turnaround time is 14-21 days after we receive the document back from you with your revisions and responses.

Larger documents will take longer to complete.  We will advise you of the additional time needed upon our review of your submission.

eBook Conversion

We will format your document and convert it to ePub and Amazon Kindle format. Turnaround time for eBook conversion is five days.
